• Local Anesthetic

  Like all doctors, we use lidocaine for any treatments that require it. Lidocaine will numb the area we’re working on.

  It lasts a few hours. After we administer the lidocaine you won’t feel anything during the dental procedure.

  Of course, if you’re afraid of the dentist, even administering anesthetic can be scary.

  That’s why we offer various types of pre-procedure sedation and some combination of these options help almost everyone.

• Nitrous Oxide

  If you’re scared of your procedure, we offer nitrous oxide (or “laughing gas”) to our clients. After we administer the nitrous oxide, you’ll feel relaxed. You’ll still be awake for the procedure and able to respond to commands, though.

  A lot of patients report that laughing gas calms them down while providing a slight numbing sensation throughout their bodies.

  The best part about laughing gas is that it wears off quickly. If you drive yourself to the appointment, you’ll also be able to drive yourself home.

• Oral Sedatives

  If you feel so anxious going to the dentist that you don’t think you’ll be able to drive yourself to the office, there’s another sedation option available.

  We can prescribe an oral sedative for you to take before your appointment. This pill will reduce your anxiety.

  It does tend to make our clients sleepy, though, so you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
